coaching

My coaching practice is rooted in a deep respect for the capacity people have in envisioning themselves differently. Over the course of our work together, I'll help you define and implement the future you'd like to live.

Coaching starts with a desire to change or improve, whether it stems from a fundamental dissatisfaction with an aspect of your life, a desire to build on what you currently have or wanting to turn towards the unknown. From there, it's about doing something about it. As a coach, I can help you envision the change you want to see and come up with the tools to help you achieve certainty and clarity around your goals. As a coach, I can work with you on a variety of issues including:

  • Getting out of a professional rut.
  • Taking your artistic career to the next level.
  • Developing better time management skills.
  • Becoming a more effective, inspiring leader.
  • I'm especially interested in working with people who want to lead more environmentally sustainable lives.

Coaching approach: Coaching will help you define and achieve the personal and professional change you want to see. Coaching allows you to clearly define your long-term objectives and then to draw them out in a way that makes change achievable. Over the course of our work together, we develop and monitor the steps that you take. I aim to make this process empowering and life-affirming for you. In the past, I've coached folks on a variety of topics including time management, career development and achieving artistic ambitions. I'm especially interested in coaching people who want to see positive, sustainable change in their lives and in the world.

Fees: I believe everyone deserves the chance to experience coaching so I've decided to work on a sliding scale. I offer one free 45 minute session so that you will have a chance to experience what coaching is like and we can determine if we are well suited to working together. Get in touch if you’re interested in trying coaching or have any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I should be coached?

There's something that you're especially keen on investigating or you feel restlessness with an aspect of your life. Together, we'll sit down to figure out how to do something about it.

What's the difference between coaching and therapy?

There's all sorts of different approaches to therapy as it promotes positive life changes and there are times when the two approaches can be complimentary. The primary difference that I see is in coaching's emphasis on considering you as an individual that is fully capable of significant action right now. While we will certainly at times consider your motivation for wanting to change or grow aspects of your life, this consideration will primarily play a support role to getting you to act.

How did you become a coach?

My training as a coach was through the rigorous certificate program in Personal & Professional Coaching at the Center for Human Relations & Community Studies at Concordia University where I also completed a certificate in Conflict Analysis & Intervention. I've received additional training at the Centre Québécois de PNL (Quebec Center for Neuro-Linguistic Programming). I believe in further improving my coaching skills and am often looking for additional training.

Are you regulated by a professional order?

Yes. I adhere to the ethical codes of conduct set forth by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and I am currently working towards ACC acreditation from the ICF.

How will I know if my coaching process is successful?

You'll experience clarity and change - oftentimes right away (no joke!) You'll walk away from our sessions with a sense of direction and with set actions to take on. We'll revisit these in our work together and through incremental steps, we'll work towards your vision. Intrigued? Skeptical? Try it out! I offer one free 45 minute session so that you will have a chance to experience what coaching is like and we can determine if we are well suited to working together.

What does coaching look like as a process?

I'm a big believer in the significance of informal dialogue and the reason I got into coaching is because people fascinate me. A coaching session will typically have us discussing your life in an open, respectful and candid way. I'll quickly become invested in you and your success, which will make it natural and easy for me to speak to you from a position of honesty and earnestness. I'll be excited about your wins and will tell you, although if I feel you could push yourself a bit more, I'll tell you that too.

Where does coaching happen?

I see clients out of my office in Montreal's Mile End, or sometimes out of my home office in Pointe St Charles. I can also work with you over the phone or via Skype.
